This is my 11 am class from last semester, can you pick out the 5 South Korean?

My 10 am freshmen class, can you pick out the Han Chinese (3) from the Korean Chinese??

my 3 pm sophs, a really fun class

while at home Steph, Em and myself got bored and so we drove around town taking pictures, man i miss doughnuts, why do i have to live in like the only country with no doughnuts!

we got almost a half a meter of snow last night, yeah its about time, and there arent really snow plows here so i guess im not going into town for a while plus there are 30 mph winds right now, its just straight cold. At least the heat is still on for a few more weeks.

Ok so this picture is from like 8 days ago, but its a look at some of the people i work with. The couple in the middle (seated together with the baby on the lap) had their 10th wedding anniversary, so we had a party and ordered a ton of Chinese food.

Vacation part 1

Well i made lots of stops on vacation, slept in different airports but here are a few pic from my time that took me from China to Michigan (24 days) to Tokyo (1 day) to Guangzhou (1 day) to Chiang Mai (too many) to Bangkok (1 crazy day) to Bali (10 amazing days) to Beijing (1 day) and finally home to Yanji.

The leftovers...these are people i was with my first year, there were 44 of us 2 years ago, now only 14 plus a few leaders we didnt scare off.

This is looking out my bedroom window in Bali, this was the best vacation i have ever been on, no question. You cant see them in this picture but there were cow grazing in our backyard.

Koman our cooking and cleaning lady, had breakfast ready for us after our morning surf and Wayan was our guy that fixed stuff and was a great help telling us different stuff to do and places to go

speaking of surfing...i used that term very loosely. Not exactly the hugest wave ever, but a 6 foot wave almost killed me, so i would rather "play" in the kiddy waves till i actually know what im doing.

Me and Thor, we actually went to MSU together and now teach together in Yanji, of all the places in the world to meet...wow

some things in China never change...like me being taller than all the girls...just an FYI, this was on the English Department MT, our English Department has 3 guy students or some crazy small number like that. The girl in the front is one of my students, so is the girl on her left. I am the advisor to the 2 girls on the outside.

took a visit to the North Korean boarder, kinda strange, but very interesting...those hills behind me look nice and green right, there arent any trees..oh and that town is a fake town, the people are all actors

Camping Pics

So i went camping with the fam for the first time in a decade, and it turned out to be cramped but pretty fun

My lil buddy, Mac, got a little too much sun on his face the first day

Our lovely lil camper, we had 6 people sleeping in there, it was a bit tight

My uncle Rick on the other hand, had 4 people in this airconditioned RV

the beach was great and the lake wasn't too cold

and having these lil guys to ride around on made the time go a little faster, but its a tough to get a chance when you got 60 people camping with ya

Summer activities

Well its gonna be a busy 7 weeks at home...starting tomorrow, family vacation. Its my first camping trip with the family in a decade, when i say "family vacation" that doesnt mean the 6 people in my family, that means at least 50 of my relatives will also be with us. So it should be a great time being with everyone, sittin by the fire, swimming, ridin jet ski's, and killing my little brother in any and all sports. My sister and I will leave after a week of fun with the fam, and head to Chicago (19th-21st) to visit my cousin and his wife, hopefully i can see some of my China and Yonsei friends while im in town. Then i have a wedding on the 22nd, which i got invited to yesterday. Meetings in Grand Rapids on the 24th, then i going to Cleveland to visit my sister and a friend from my TC project. After that im driving to Indy to pick up my good friend Lee and the 2 of us are driving to middle of no where Mizzou to visit my old college roommate Eric. The day after i get home from that, my lil bro and i are going backpacking for a few days before the best part of the summer begins...football practice!!!!!!!!! I will be coaching football for the last 2 or so weeks that i am home, i cant wait. Blessings and peace, ill probably post some pics when i have a free moments...peace

Class is game over

Well today was the start of my summer vacation...sad really, it was and will be hard to say goodbye to my students, espically the 8th graders that ive taught for 2 years. Hear Mr. Mulder Äã»ØÀ´Âð? about a hundred times, then answering it and seeing their faces afterwards, hurts...there is no other way to say it, i am going to miss the people here more than i know. But it has been fun sending text messages to them and talking with them in Chinese on MSN, its good practice for me, haha.

At the same time its good...to have a chance to head home, raise support, encourage those i love, coach some high school football, but most importantly to prepare for the next phase that He has laid out for me. I am nervous about moving to such a small city, Yanji has about 300,000 people, having to learn to communicate in another language, Korean, and having new teammates. At the same time i am excited about studying Korean, which is something ive wanted to do since i left Yonsei in 02, moving to a city that isnt crazy polluted, my lungs will rejoice but its gonna be cold, and teaching university students. Not to mention the other opps i may have that really really excite me.

Still in the Hunt

If the US takes care of business against a quality team in Ghana, they will advance in the World, which would be amazing. They still havent scored a goal but they showed against Italy, that they can play with anyone. They were aggressive and pressed the attack, they probably shouldve won, and the red card to Pope was unbelievable, but word on the street is that that certain ref has been a pain in the US's side before. What i am totally stoked about is the Holland v Argentina game, wow Argentina is by far the best team ive seen play. They have 2 things you cant teach, quickness and instincts. They ran circles around Serbia, and their passing was off the hook. The Ivory Coast is crazy fast, but they dont control it well, Argentina on the other hand, uses it almost too well. The England all stars still look a bit lost out there and dont have a tenth of the team chemstry that Argentina has, in case you havent guessed, as of this point i like Argentina winning the whole thing, but Togo's coach with the unbuttoned shirt and gold chains is still the coolest man of the tourney.
